Tarot Card of the Month - August 2025:

As I shuffled through my trusty Tarot deck, I held the following intention in my heart:
What card would most serve the readers in the 8th month of 2025?
Our result?...
The Hermit!
This is our 3rd Major Arcana card since starting this series, and the second one in a row, which I interpret as a gigantic indication that we are in very important times right now!
As a side note, the 10 of Wands also presented itself with the Hermit. While I will focus on the Hermit as our main messenger this month, his messages will be layered with the influence of the energy of the 10 of Wands.
So, let’s dive deeper into The Hermit to see what it wants to teach us for the month of August!
From a high-level perspective, The Hermit serves as an invitation to expand your personal influence by bringing the light of higher ways into the darkness within and around you.
In its empowered state, the energy of this archetype will serve as a light for you when you are experiencing a dark night of the soul, for this archetype carries the knowledge and spiritual traditions of the community or culture.
In its wounded state, the energy of this archetype may show up as being over reliant on a spiritual leader or guru, or feeling isolated, empty, and bored.
While The Hermit does encourage you to look within and explore your unconscious in order to achieve inner growth, it does not mean that you have to shut yourself off completely from social activities or from community. You may just want to cut down on your social engagements so that you can have more time with yourself for introspection.
By reaching inward to find the divine inside of you, you learn that you do not have to rely on anyone or anything outside of you as a physical placeholder for the divine.
Said differently, The Hermit invites you to prioritize time for yourself to explore your inner world so that you can establish or deepen your connection with your own relationship with the divine that lives inside of you. By doing so, The Hermit can show you how your worldly relationships can contribute to your search for a meaningful life. The soul came to learn through relationships, after all, relationships with the self and with others.
The presence of the 10 of Wands indicates that The Hermit has come into your life to help you address the feelings of overwhelm and excessive pressures you may have been experiencing lately.
Therefore, instead of busying yourself with unnecessary activities in an effort to avoid, ignore, or suppress the weight of the overwhelm you have been experiencing, block some time to be with you and sit with that overwhelm. Find out what it is trying to tell you.
We are in unprecedented times that are asking us to evaluate what we are holding within ourselves so that we can bring our own divine light to those places and spaces deep within. Some of these parts may not serve you now or going forward. You can begin to heal them by giving them the space and attention they need from you in order to feel seen and heard.
Ignoring your problems does not make them disappear. Some external problems may naturally fall away with the passage of time, but the deep inner core wounds that created those problems will continue to take up space inside of you until you slow down and sit with them long enough so that they feel acknowledged and appreciated for helping you get where you are today.
Once these wounds receive your love, they do transform into wisdom for the soul, and their energy eventually neutralizes so that they no longer trouble you going forward. That comes with time, but again, not by ignoring or suppressing them. You have to BE with your wounds as the loving witness who sees them as the building blocks of transformation that they are.
In doing so, you are also being with yourself and becoming your greatest ally in the journey of self-healing and personal sovereignty. (Note: This is not the same as wallowing in self-pity of victim consciousness. While it is natural to fall into these patterns at times, the goal is to rise out of these patterns as soon as possible so that we can get back to the healing.)
But please do not think that you have to address or work with all of your wounded pieces at once! You do not want to add to the overwhelm that you are already experiencing. Instead, work with what comes up in any given moment. Take the time you need to grieve the parts of you that no longer serve your highest good, and then send them off with peace, gratitude, and love.
To know the self is to know the way, and to lovingly support and nurture yourself with patience, compassion, and care as you come to terms with what you have been carrying is the ultimate goal of The Hermit.
So, for August, I invite and encourage you to embrace the guidance of The Hermit.
Anything that you can do to make your physical home/living space feel cozier and more comfortable will help. The scent of cinnamon can assist here. If you want some extra spiritual support from Mother Earth, then you can work with the sacred stone called indigo gabbro. This stone can help you with that deep introspective self-analysis. Also, working with the herb usnea when embracing the archetype of The Hermit can help.
August also brings us the peak of the Lion’s Gate Portal. This annual astrological event happens from July 28 to August 12, peaks on August 8th, and is a profound opportunity to expedite any efforts of personal growth, transformation, and spiritual awakening. This portal is believed to open a flow of energy between the spiritual and physical worlds, so The Hermit is a perfect card to receive alongside the Lion’s Gate Portal!
Layered with the unique energies of the Wood Snake year, this portal creates an extraordinary potential for transformation. You can take advantage of this portal by setting intentions to prosper for the rest of the year and to allow your natural intuition to experience quantum leaps in growth during this next 12-month cycle until the Lion’s Gate Portal comes back around next year.
Finally, here are some journaling questions you can ask yourself when working with the archetype of The Hermit:
🌀Who are you beneath the mask that you wear when you’re out amongst people?
🌀Who are you beneath the illusions or lies that you may tell yourself about yourself?
🌀Who are you beneath the programming of family, society, culture, or the collective?
🌀What gives you the strength to carry on?
🌀What makes you feel defeated?
🌀How can you find balance and presence regardless of how you feel?
These questions are an invitation to dive deep into your psyche to explore what is there that you want to keep, what you might want to adjust, or what you might want to get rid of completely. Much of the process of growth, development, and ascension involves exploring the inner depths of our own minds so that we can excavate the gold that is deep within, and wash away the sediment that doesn’t belong there anymore.
Think of inner inquiry like sifting for gold. That is how I like to see it. 😉
And if you need help, then reach out. You can send me a message through my website to schedule a Zoom reading! Or you can inquire about one of my coaching or healing packages. My goal is to help my clients feel stronger, more self-empowered, and aligned with their personal sovereignty as we both get to witness how the changes that they make inside of themselves can radiate out to create transformation in their outer world, too.
Remember, you deserve the best that you can give yourself!
Peace and blessings to you and yours, and in loving light, I look forward to exploring next month's Tarot card for September 2025!😊
