Tarot Card of the Month - December 2025:

Tarot Card: Four of Cups

As I shuffled through my trusty Tarot deck, I held the following intention in my heart:

What card would serve the readers most in this, the 12th and final month, of 2025?

Our result?...

Ten of Coins!

It was an initial surprise to receive this card for December. My Ego expected 2025 to “go out with a bang,” especially with as turbulent and pivotal as 2025 has been. So I fully expected to receive a Major Arcana card. However, as I reconnected with the energy of the Ten of Coins, it quickly became crystal clear to me as to why 2025 concluded with its energy. You ready?...

For a quick summary, the suit of Coins, aka Disks or Pentacles, represents the element of Earth, and for us humans that equates to our physical bodies, the homes/houses in which we live, and anything related to the physical operations of human life, which includes finances. In general, this suit teaches us how to be grounded in our 3-D material matters so that we can progress through the other suits in the journey of spiritual growth. The goal is to develop the ego self through the sensory world so that we can learn who we are and how we function in the physical world. This creates a grounded psyche as supported by the 5 physical senses, which are seen within the circle of the Coin/Disk/Pentacle at the tip of each point of the star, stars also being associated with the Heavenly (or above) realm.

So, let’s dive deeper into the Ten of Coins to see what it wants to teach us for the month of December!

From a high-level perspective, the Ten of Coins represents the energy of a person who has lived a life full of lessons and experiences which they are ready to share with the world, or at least with whoever wants to receive their wisdom. This archetype wants to pass on a legacy, whether it be in physical, mental, spiritual, or emotional riches.

Meaning, this card is often associated with inheritance, which can be more than trinkets passed through a family or money in a trust fund. The more magickal and joyful inheritances are those that are cultivated through conscious relationships with the self and with others, all while keeping childlike curiosity about the inner and outer world as those relationships are nurtured.

That’s why the energy of this card is so important for December – as we enter the time of year most associated with family gatherings, cultivating relationships, and deciding what we might want to pass along to the next generation or bring into the next year, we must do so with a clear and wise mind. This is how the Ten of Coins can support us now.

The Ten of any Minor Arcana is an inflection point for the suit. The 1 represents new beginnings, while the 0 represents both the void and the infinite potential of all that is (you choose your perspective😘). Positioned next to each other, these numbers invite you to consider what new beginning you are creating, and what resources are you using to create that new beginning? Are you paring fresh new things in a way that benefits all involved, or are you drawing from the old and familiar and trying to repackage them in a new way? Neither is right or wrong, but both are best served when you are aware and conscious of the choice(s) you make along the way.

Empowered, the energy of the Ten of Coins is focused on the insights gained through life experiences. When the established ways of life that were built within the self, family, and society are cooperative, supportive, and nurturing, what gets passed along is more likely to create more of the same in future generations. That’s why this card is so focused on family and/or community responsibility and contribution, while it also marks a point in which the seeds of interest towards higher service are planted.

Wounded, the energy of the Ten of Coins lacks the ability to discern, understand, or interpret the wisdom available from life’s experiences. This leads to taking unnecessary risks with resources, in relationships, and with life in general. This can lead to the disruption of positive influence flowing into future generations and instead can create a legacy of loss, irresponsibility, and victim or perpetrator consciousness depending on how the energy is passed.

In its full potential, the archetype of the Ten of Coins emphasizes the vital nature of the power of choice. Ultimately, it wants to encourage us to choose an empowered, sovereign, and enlightened path forward towards ever increasing growth and personal fulfilment that benefits everyone along the way.

So, for December, I invite and encourage you to embrace the guidance of the Ten of Coins.

From a practical perspective, to utilize the energy of the Ten of Coins for your mental self-care, take a step back and look at your life from a higher perspective and do some genuine self-reflection. Big things happened this year – have you drawn out all the available wisdom and celebrated your success along the way? For your body’s self-care, you can infuse your drinking water with crystal frequencies. Some crystals can be put in water directly, or you can gift yourself a special water bottle that is built with a compartment to hold crystals inside. For your spirit’s self-care, treat yourself to the exquisiteness of the sunrise and be mindful of the beauty and abundance you see around you. Also, you can work with the herb horsetail when you want to embrace the archetype of the Ten of Coins so that it can help you turn ancient magick into modern medicine, find (or increase) your inner strength, and infuse the wisdom of Earth’s elders deep in your bones.

Finally, here are some journaling questions that you can ask yourself and write about when you work with the archetype of the Ten of Coins:

🌀What goals did you have for 2025 that you achieved?

🌀What goals would you like to set (or reset) for 2026?

🌀How can you honor the work that you do and the way your work contributes to humanity?

🌀Is the life you lead creating a legacy you want to pass on to the next generation?

🌀If not, what can you change so that your legacy will align with your life’s vision?

🌀If yes, what can you reinforce so that your legacy exceeds your wildest expectations?

These questions are an invitation to dive deep into your psyche to explore what is there that you want to keep, what you might want to adjust, or what you might want to get rid of completely. Much of the process of growth, development, and ascension involves exploring the inner depths of our own minds so that we can excavate the gold that is deep within and wash away the sediment that doesn’t belong there anymore.

Think of inner inquiry like sifting for gold. That is how I like to see it. 😉

And if you need help, then reach out. You can send me a message through my website to schedule a Zoom reading! Or you can inquire about one of my coaching or healing packages. My goal is to help my clients feel stronger, more self-empowered, and aligned with their personal sovereignty as we both get to witness how the changes that they make inside of themselves can radiate out to create transformation in their outer world, too.

Remember, you deserve the best that you can give yourself!

Peace and blessings to you and yours, and in loving light, I look forward to exploring next month's Tarot card for January 2026! 😊
