Tarot Card of the Month - June 2025:

Tarot Card: The 8 of Cups

As I shuffled through my trusty Tarot deck, I held the following intention in my heart:

What card would most serve the readers in the 6th month of 2025?

Our result?...

The 8 of Cups!

At first glance, one might feel forlorn and apprehensive about this card. You might even wonder, has the “positive” streak that we’ve been on the last few months come to an end?

To that I say, looks can be deceiving! All tarot cards have the potential to express both wounded and empowered (negative and positive) energy, and sometimes they want us to receive a little bit of both in a reading.

So, let’s dive deeper into the 8 of Cups to see what it wants to teach us for the month of June!

From a high-level perspective, the 8 of Cups expresses that it is time to make a move. Honor with gratitude all of the lessons, relationships, skills, and knowledge you have gained to this point in your journey. The past is the past and cannot be changed but it can be resourced for the pearls of wisdom that it holds.

Now, however, it is time to graduate from your regular, normal routine, to explore new horizons, and to discover new territory, especially within yourself.

Taking into consideration the last 2 cards we have received (The Hierophant and the 3 of Coins), which encouraged us to build rituals and routines around the sacred work that we do, and layering those cards with the 8 of Cups, it feels as though we are being guided to find a better balance and harmony between the inner and outer aspects of life so that we can pivot into a new direction that better serves our best and highest good.

In other words, it’s time to walk away from something, from someone, or from an old belief or story you hold about yourself, so that you can explore the new you that wants to rise up to the surface.

With any kind of meaningful change, there are bound to be things that pop up to try to keep you where you have been instead of where you are going. Those fears, challenges, doubts, resistances, etc. are a normal part of the process of change and transformation.

I repeat, they are normal!

However, just because they are normal does not mean that they should be allowed to dictate your behavior. Like my one mentor says (and I paraphrase), “All feelings are welcome here, but no feelings are an excuse for bad behavior.”

Just in the month of June alone, we are changing seasons! In the Northern Hemisphere, we shift into Summer with the Summer Solstice on Friday, June 20th, AND there is a simultaneous astrological shift as the Sun moves into the sign of Cancer. Here, then, is an invitation for you to bring your emotions into the light. And just like the 8 of Cups suggests, the goal is to find balance amongst it all.

From a numerological perspective, the main energy of the number 8 is that of manifestation. So, what are you creating? How is your relationship with your emotions? The suit of Cups is related to water and for humans, that relates to our emotions. And with the Sun moving into Cancer season (a water sign), again you are being asked, how is your relationship with your emotions?

Our emotions are part of our internal guidance system that helps us navigate the complexities of human life. When you are in a good relationship with your emotions, then they can help you “feel” the answers of your Higher Self through your physical body’s innate communication system. However, when you are not in a good relationship with your emotions, then you are more likely to misinterpret their messages or ignore them completely, thereby missing the support that your Higher Self is trying to give you.

Either way, regardless of how your relationship with your emotions looks, there is no judgement from your Higher Self or from the Source of all that is on how you react or respond to your emotions. Both your Higher Self and the one Source love you unconditionally, and by them, you are witnessed with love and compassion as your life unfolds according to your own free will choices. But should you choose the “choice of no choice” and thereby surrender your human free will to the complete guidance of your Higher Self, then get ready for a completely different kind of experience of life!

Some questions to ask yourself when you see the 8 of Cups are:

🌀 What do you want to leave or to avoid?

🌀 What feelings of loss or regret might you have about the past, and how can you love those feelings back into the unity of your entire being?

🌀 How can you incorporate spiritual practices into your daily life?

🌀 Where might you be holding onto something that once worked but no longer does because you fear the change that will happen?

These questions are an invitation to dive deep into your psyche to explore what is there that you want to keep, what you might want to adjust, or what you might want to get rid of completely. Much of the process of growth, development, and ascension involves exploring the inner depths of our own minds so that we can excavate the gold that is deep within, and to wash away the sediment that doesn’t belong there anymore.

Think of inner inquiry like sifting for gold, for that is how I like to see it. 😉
