Tarot Card of the Month - March 2025:

Tarot Card: King of Wands

As I shuffled through my trusty Tarot deck, I held the following intention in my heart:

What card would most serve the readers in the 3rd month of 2025?

Our result?...

The King of Wands!

In contrast to the cards that we received for January and February (5 of Cups and 8 of Swords, respectively), the King of Cups is shown as a more empowered being, at the pinnacle of life’s passions, and holding ground for what is good for the world.

In their sovereignty, a person who embodies their inner King of Wands is clear about who they are and they are able to express themselves well. Wands translate to the element of fire, and for us that means our passion, our will, our drive, and our desires in and for life.

When you align with the King of Wands’ energy, you may find yourself wanting to talk to anyone and everyone who will listen about what’s most important for you in your life right now.

But if you go too far into the extreme of the Kind of Wands’ energy, you may start to impose your beliefs, ideologies, desires, and will over others. When this happens, you are no longer in the empowered, sovereign energy of this card, but you have moved into the wounded, disempowered energy.

The King of Wands is a natural leader, often able to organize people, events, and situations where most people might not even try. In its strength, this card communicates honesty, reliability, loyalty, maturity, sympathy, and being friendly. Opposite, in its weakness, this card reveals excessiveness, intolerance, harshness, arrogance, and dogmatic tendencies.

The overarching question that you must ask yourself when you see the King of Wands is: how will I direct the awesome power and passion that I hold inside? Will you use the pure potency of this energy to create something for the best and highest good of everyone involved, or will you apply that energy towards something more selfish and self-serving that may be intended to overpower others?

In essence, the King of Wands indicates that you may be operating from a place of creative expansion and transformative brilliance, but what are you creating and for what kind of transformation? Will it serve the will of all, or just yourself?

Neither path is considered good or bad when chosen consciously. If your actions are more self-focused, as long as you intend that what you are doing is for your highest good, then you are still serving the good of all beings. It’s the point where actions start to infringe upon the rights, free-will, or sovereignty of others that you begin to create contrast and tension in the world. This may create a learning opportunity for you to experience the “return” of the energy that you put out into the world, but honestly, why bring that upon yourself?

Ultimately, the King of Wands wants us to own our fire and not to fear authority figures. If your intuition is pulling you towards a specific direction, if you want to build something new from the bottom up, and if you have a clear vision for what you want to achieve, then this card invites you to listen to that intuition. Transformation takes time. Daily show up, daily commitment, and daily devotion, coupled with support from others and a plan of action to move you towards your vision are the “special sauce” required to make your goal a reality.

Spring Equinox arrives this month, and receiving a fire suit card is perfectly aligned for the energy of March. So, the question for you is: What will you do with the fire inside of you that is ready to be expressed into the world? Will you douse it out with doubt, fear, or neglect? Or will you feed it the kindling it needs with your attention, focus, drive, and action steps forward?

Fire has a powerful ability to transmute energy. How about you allow your inner fire to burn away the old within you that is ready to be released? This creates space for more of your soul’s essence, your soul’s light, to be held in your human body. And as you learn how to hold more of your soul’s light, you activate and embody more of your personal sovereignty, too!
