Tarot Card of the Month - September 2025:

As I shuffled through my trusty Tarot deck, I held the following intention in my heart:

What card would most serve the readers in the 9th month of 2025?

Our result?...

The Queen of Wands!

This is our 1st Queen court card since starting this series, and she brings the heat!

(Quick reminder: pronouns in the tarot are subjective. They reflect archetypal energies rather than literal, fixed genders. Therefore, my use of she or he in any of these articles can be applied to all people, regardless of gender identification, since all people contain the energies of both the Divine Feminine and the Divine Masculine.)

Wands are associated with the element of fire. For humans, fire represents our passion, drive, desire, and will. These traits are often associated with the solar plexus chakra, which means that it is no coincidence that the Queen of Wands is decked out in yellow robes, holds a sunflower in one hand, her want in the other, and sits upon a lion and sunflower decorated throne. Symbolism runs deep with the tarot, but for our brief monthly article, we’ll leave the symbolic references at that for now.

As with all tarot cards, the Queen of Wands offers multiple energetic perspectives – the empowered, the wounded, and the balanced (the perspective that can hold space for both the empowered and the wounded and allow each to express at the appropriate time).

So, let’s dive deeper into the Queen of Wands to see what it wants to teach us for the month of September!

From a high-level perspective, the Queen of Wands represents the manifestation of potential spiritual energy. The soul is often associated with the fire or “spark” within a human, and so the Queen of Wands reminds us to sit upon the throne of our own fire; to sit upon the seat of our soul.

What does that mean?

It means that we embrace with full devotion and conviction the things that are right for us, the things that truly resonate with our soul’s frequency, and keep faith and trust in the knowing that all is good and right in each present moment regardless of the situation.

Empowered, the Queen of Wands has collected her energy, her power, back to herself from all of the places and spaces to which it may have been scattered. She has trained that energy to be directed towards the select few people or projects to whom she has devoted herself. In her heart she knows the vision of her life well for it is the desired manifestation that she has come to birth into the world through her spiritual devotion. Intuitive thinking is her first source of counsel, and she is only interested in deep and authentic relationships in which vulnerability, truth, honesty, love, and integrity prevail.

Wounded, the Queen of Wands lacks any level of confidence for her energy has been scattered to the wind, either taken or given away, sometimes voluntarily or most times unconsciously, which has led to her feeling powerless. She may have become greedy or stingy with her resources or she may lack the ability to see the resources that are available to her. Over time, she likely disconnected herself from her innate spiritual qualities and has abandoned, ignored, or suppressed her needs and desires in life for the sake of others. Therefore, she tends to swing between extreme states of manic highs and depressive lows without ever pausing long enough to experience any of the infinite spaces in between.

Balanced, the Queen of Wands knows that her power waxes and wanes in her own natural cycles and rhythms. She does not take it personally when she feels weak and unable to accomplish a goal. Rather, she recognizes the need to honor the divine timing of her own rhythms and takes the necessary steps of sacred self-care in order to support herself and hold her vision while creating the necessary space for integration before the next big leap forward of momentum. When she feels strong and powerful, she takes advantage of that state of being and makes gigantic leaps and bounds forward in her work towards her life’s vision. Regardless of her state of being on any given day or in any given moment, consistency in devotion to her spiritual practices is nonnegotiable.

Overall, the Queen of Wands understands how to care for and nourish her creativity, instinct, and inspiration. Her energy is magick forged in flame; a potent blend of abundance and ambition mixed with devout loyalty to her soul’s vision. Her message to us all: stay focused, loyal, and true to the difficult choices you have made this year. So long as you continue to follow your intuition, you will be guided towards that vision, for the best and highest good of all.

When life throws its inevitable curve balls your way, you can call upon the archetype of the Queen of Wands to help you navigate, maneuver, and pivot your way through the situation with your full strength and authority, as well as with ease and grace. You don’t have to “go it alone.” These archetypes exist within and all around us, often dormant and waiting for our free will choice and directive to come in and help us.

When it comes to working with any Tarot archetype as a guide, the point is to learn to see when, where, and how its energy shows up in your inner world, and to get a sense of its state of energy, meaning if it shows up empowered, wounded, or balanced. Judgement is left at the door, for it helps nobody, especially in the realm of deep inner work and rediscovery of your true self. Or if you find your life lacks in a certain archetypal energy that you would like to call in, then connect to God/Source through the direct connection of your own soul and call in the original Source code energy for that archetype. Be open to receive the gift of your prayers answered and watch as your life transforms like magick!

So, for September, I invite and encourage you to embrace the guidance of the Queen of Wands.

Anything that you can do to be brave and spirited in the pursuit of your life’s vision while maintaining the knowing that you deserve success will be supported by the Queen of Wands. Experiment with different scents or essential oils to unlock your confidence. Infuse your filtered water with your favorite flavor or try a new one to bring fresh life into your hydration habits. Meditate on the standards by which you live your life and ask to be shown where adjustments need to be made. Also, you can work with the herb thyme when you want to embrace the archetype of the Queen of Wands so that she can help turn up the heat of your creativity.

September also brings us the second eclipse season of the year. This portal begins with the Pisces Lunar Eclipse on September 7th and ends with the Virgo Solar Eclipse on September 21st. With the lunar eclipse, we release, and with the solar eclipse, we plant seeds.

Layered with the unique energies of the Wood Snake year, this year’s September eclipse portal brings a period of intense transformation during which you have a very powerful opportunity to shed old stories, beliefs, patterns, etc., and align more deeply with the next level of your authentic self. The main areas of focus for this portal are inner healing, relationships, and emotional growth, which are all interrelated when you think about it.

You can take advantage of this portal by setting intentions to release perfectionistic behaviors with the lunar eclipse, and to plant the seeds of sustainable new habits for your health, routines, and daily life with the solar eclipse. This practice will help you build a stronger foundation for your long-term growth. However, these are just examples of intentions that you can set. I highly encourage you to set some of your own as well.

Finally, here are some journaling questions you can ask yourself and write about when you work with the archetype of the Queen of Wands:

🌀Where have you been allowing the expectations of others to interfere with your life’s vision?

🌀Where in your life can you more deeply instill the qualities of loyalty and consistency?

🌀Have you been too strong-willed in any area of life where compromise would be better?

🌀How well have you been receiving your intuitive guidance and acting on its directions?

🌀Where have you been giving away your power to anything outside of yourself, either consciously or unconsciously?

🌀How can you take charge of your life?

These questions are an invitation to dive deep into your psyche to explore what is there that you want to keep, what you might want to adjust, or what you might want to get rid of completely. Much of the process of growth, development, and ascension involves exploring the inner depths of our own minds so that we can excavate the gold that is deep within and wash away the sediment that doesn’t belong there anymore.

Think of inner inquiry like sifting for gold. That is how I like to see it. 😉
